- Gerald Mason Oaksmith dies
Rosary for Gerald Mason Oaksmith, 72, retired president of Oaksmith Boat Sales at Fishermen's Terminal, will be said at 7 p.m. Sunday at Bonney-Watson. Funeral services will be at 9:30 a.m. Monday at St. Alphonsis Church with burial in Holyrood. He died yesterday.
Oaksmith was active in the fishing, canning, marine equipment and marine-insurance industry nearly 50 years.
Born in Wrangel, Alaska, Oaksmith moved here in 1933. He was active in the Catholic Yout Organization, the Carroll Club, the Assembly Club, the Holy Name Society and Washington Athletic Club.
Survivors include his wife, Mildred; four daughters, Ruth Carlson, Cammy Hendrix and Susan M. Feeder, all of Seattle, and Mary S. Oaksmith, Tukwila; four sons, Maurice and Gerald M. Jr., both of Seattle, John, Ketchikan, Alaska, and W. Steve, Bothell; his mother, Martine Oaksmith, a twin brother, Maurice and brother, Stanley A. Oaksmith Jr., and a sister, Elizabeth Oaksmith, all of Ketchikan.
