- Born near Tolna, ND to Martin and Regins "Gina" (Thorson) Flaagan. He was raised in Pekin, ND and attended school there. Served in the Army during WWII, Battery A, 383rd Field Artillery Battalion of the 45th Infantry Division. He served in Sicily and up through Italy, France and into Germany where they liberated concentration camps. Upon discharge he went to Fargo, ND and graduated from Dakota Business College. He worked as an Accountant in the Fargo-Moorhead area for years. He retired as a Federal Employee from the Minot AFB and returned to Fargo. He than entered the Homestead Living Center, Deer River, MN, where he died at 93 years of age.
Survived by: Son, Martin; Daughters, Maureen and Anita(Jerry) Dederick. Adrick Semmer, who was like his grandson. Sisters: Amie(Clayton) Aaser and Irene Spidahl. Brothers: Benhard(Viola) Flaagan and Kenneth (Constance)l Flaaagan. Sister-in-law: Thora Danielson, Eva(Jerry Classen)Erdman Classen, and Mabel Pederson. Brother-in-law: Leonrd(Margaret) Pederson.
Preceded in death by his wife, Edna(Pederson); Parents; infant brother, Gordon; another brother, Gordon; sister, Erva Spidahl and her husband Arnold and Ernest Spidahl; Sister-in-law, Mary Ann Flaagan. On Edna's side, Gilmand was precded in death by brother-in-laws: EB Pederson, Clarence Pederson, rthur Pederson, Isak Pederson, Walter Pederson; AE Danielson, Walter Erdman, and AD Shockman. Sister-i-law, Mildred Shockman, Evelyn Pederson, and Stella Pederson.
Funeral: Feb 9, 2006 at Bethlehem Lutheran Church, Fargo, ND
