- "The family of Barry John Almos, are heartbroken to announce his passing on Saturday November 23rd, 2013. He died peacefully in his home after a brief illness at the age of 61.
Barry was someone who enjoyed living life to the fullest. Some of his passions were golf, scuba diving, skidooing and most recently he enjoyed spending time in nature with his hiking group. Barry had a passion for exploring his family tree and travelled to Norway to visit his relatives that he discovered through his research. Barry was a member of the Iron Workers Local 759 as well as the Canadian Welding Bureau. Just prior to his illness he was studying with the Canadian Red Cross and had plans to work abroad to provide disaster relief to those in need. Barry was a compassionate and caring friend who could always be counted on for help when needed.
Barry will be sadly missed by his loving wife Agnes , his nephew Mathew Butler (Christina), his niece Monica Schwitzgebel (Curtis), his sisters-in-law Tina McCullough and Ethel Egeberg, his brother-in-law Yorki Blajszczak (Ann), his friend Angela (Ron) and numerous other family members and friends. He was predeceased by his father Bernie, his mother Doris (Poulin), and his sisters Darlene, Lori and Lois.
Cremation has taken place and there will be a Celebration of his Life beginning at 1:00 PM on Friday November 29th in the Harbourview Funeral Centre, 499 North Cumberland Street, with family and friends gathering up to one hour prior. If anyone so desires donations may be made in Barry's memory to the Canadian Red Cross."
