Rites for Mrs. Syverson, 94, at WLJ
Funeral services for Elizabeth Syverson, 94, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, June 5, at the West Lake Johanna Lutheran church, Brooten, with Rev. Lloyd Kallevig officiating. Mrs. Syverson died Sunday, June 3, at Glenwood Retirement Home.
Pallbearers were Tim Syverson, Craig Woolery, Kevin Woolery, Terry Syverson, Kevin Syverson and Randy Syverson. Interment took place in West Lake Johanna Lutheran cemetery, Brooten.
Elizabeth Syverson was born in Gilchrist township, Pope county, on Feb. 24, 1885, the daughter of the late Arne and Magdolena Ravnestad. After her father's death, her mother and other members of the family moved to Canada. Elizabeth remained in Minnesota and worked for Rev. and Mrs. Beito. She was united in marriage to Edwin L. Syverson on Dec. 3, 1904. They farmed in the Gilchrist area until they moved to Glenwood in 1950.
Surviving are four sons, Clarence of Glenwood, Ernest of Brooten, Alden and Wilton of Minneapolis; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Verna) Arenson of Brooten, Mrs. Eddie (Muriel) Kessel of San Diego, Ca., and Mrs. Norris (Dolores) Iverson of Redwood Falls; a special granddaughter, Carolyn Globa, who came to live with the Syverson family when she was 18 months old; eight grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; one brother, Ed Ramstead of Edmonds, Wa.; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, who died March 11, 1957, an infant son and two grandchildren.
CARD of THANKS
Our sincere thanks to friends, neighbors and relatives for visiting mother at the Home and for the many cards and memorial gifts in memory of our mother and grandmother; to Deloris Orton, organist; pallbearers; Don and Oliver Hoplin; Chaplain Opdahl, Pastor Kallevig. Thanks to the West Circle for hosting the coffee hour.
We are grateful to the employees at the Home for the loving concern for mother, especially during her last difficult days. We thank God for the Christian heritage left to us by our mother, and, as she said in one of her parting notes, "God bless you all -- and believe in Jesus Christ, our Saviour."
