Rites for Edwin Syverson, Pope County Pioneer
Final rites for Edwin L. Syverson, 78, lifetime resident of Pope county who died March 11 at the Glenwood Community hospital, were held at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Hoplin Funeral home and at 2 p.m. at the West Lake Johanna church with the Rev. John L. Spencer of Glenwood officiating.
Burial was in the Lake Johanna cemetery with Ogal Thorson, Otto Solbrekken, Milton Syverson, Elmer Olson, Oliver Halls and Allie Kittelson as pallbearers.
During the services, a ladies trio of Mesdames Ralph Sanders, Ellert Kittelson and Joseph Skarpness sang two selections. Barbara Fiskerbeck accompanied them on the organ.
Edwin Lewis Syverson was born in Rolling Forks township Feb. 13, 1879. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Romstead, Dec. 3, 1904. They lived in Gilchrist township until 1950 when they retired and moved to Glenwood city.
Surviving are his wife, four sons, Ernest of Sedan, Wilton and Alden of Minneapolis and Clarence of Glenwood; three daughters, Mrs. Clarence (Verna) Arenson, and Mrs. Norris (Dolores) Iverson of Brooten, and Mrs. Eddie (Muriel) Kassel of San Diego, Calif., and nine grandchildren, one of whom, Carolyn Syverson, has made her home with her grandparents.
Also surviving are three brothers, Sigvart of Dassel, Peter of Minneapolis and Carl of Benson, and one sister, Mrs. Lloyd Benjamin of Minneapolis [1]
